Studio Index Privacy Policy

This policy covers Studio Index: Project Panels for Mac, including its private testing editions. The next testing edition adds editable workspaces, Recent work, Your Mac and Keep awake.

Effective and last updated October 9, 2026.

In short

  • Projects and tasks you create in Studio Index stay on your Mac. They are not sent to Gathered Commons Press.
  • You choose which external folders and status files the app may read. Their contents stay unchanged.
  • No account with us is required. No advertising, analytics or tracking.

Who is responsible

Studio Index is created by Tristin Hassell and published through Gathered Commons Press LLC. The party responsible for this policy is Gathered Commons Press LLC. Contact us through Studio Index support page or at hello@gatheredcommonspress.com.

Projects and tasks you create

Writing, Publishing and Software workspaces save their projects and tasks in the app’s protected storage on your Mac. These records are separate from external folders and status files you connect. Changing workspaces keeps your saved projects and tasks available when you return.

Folders and files you connect

Studio Index reads project folders and optional status, checklist and usage files you select, using read-only permission granted by macOS. It reads repository details and file dates locally without changing the connected files. Your folder and file choices are remembered with the app’s settings. The app also keeps a last readable copy of connected status files in its protected storage so a temporary file problem does not erase the display.

Recent work

You confirm each folder in the folder chooser, including Documents and Downloads. Recent work reads file names and modification dates, not file contents. The list shows up to 12 files, with each connected folder searched no more than three levels deep and up to 2,000 files and folders. Removing a connection leaves the folder and its files in place. Selecting a recent file shows it in Finder.

Your Mac and Keep awake

Open-app names, CPU readings and memory readings are displayed locally. Studio Index does not send them elsewhere or save an activity history. Keep awake is Off by default and begins only after you choose it. It ends when its time expires, you turn it off, or you quit Studio Index. It does not change your saved power settings.

Optional TestFlight status

If you connect your own App Store Connect key, Studio Index contacts Apple to show your apps’ TestFlight status. The key is stored in macOS Keychain. Project contents are never sent. Remove the key to turn that connection off. Without a key, Studio Index makes no service connections. Selecting a web link opens your browser.

Local settings and saved information

Workspace records, panel positions, folder permissions, settings and last readable status copies stay in the app’s protected storage. Removing a folder connection does not delete its files or saved workspace records. Removing the app and its protected storage removes those local records; the optional Apple key is held separately in Keychain and can be removed through the app before uninstalling. Open at login is off until you turn it on.

Feedback

Help › Send Feedback opens an email in your mail app. Nothing is sent unless you send it. Check screenshots for private project names, file names and other personal details before sharing them.

Messages you send us

If you write to us through the contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address and message and use them only to reply and to improve the app. The website privacy policy explains how long we keep these messages. Please leave passwords, access keys and other people’s private records out of your message.

Your requests

Information the app keeps on your own device or computer can be viewed, exported and deleted there. Information held by a service you connect is controlled by them, as described above. To ask about information you have sent us, or to have it deleted, contact us as above. We respond within 30 days. California residents have these rights under California law, and we extend them to everyone.

Changes to this policy

If a future version changes what the app stores or sends, we will update this page before that version is released and change the date above.
