In short
- No account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your adventures, heroes and notes are saved on your device.
- Nearby play connects devices at the same table directly and with encryption. Nothing goes through us.
Who is responsible
Pocket DM is created by Tristin Hassell and published through Gathered Commons Press LLC. The party responsible for this policy is Gathered Commons Press LLC. Contact us through Pocket DM support page or at hello@gatheredcommonspress.com.
Adventures saved on your device
Your adventure library, heroes, session notes and play log are saved on your iPhone or iPad with iOS data protection, along with one backup copy the app uses to recover from a failed save. Deleting the app removes them.
Files you save or import
Character sheet PDFs and other exports are created on your device and saved only where you choose in the Files app. Art packs you import are copied into the app on your device.
Nearby play
When you host or join a nearby game, iOS asks for Local Network permission. Pocket DM then uses Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity to connect iPhones and iPads at the same table over Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth. Connections are encrypted, and no internet connection or server is used.
The game master approves each player before they join. Players receive the shared game view, their own character and the information the game master chooses to reveal. The game master’s private notes stay on the game master’s device. The player name you enter is visible to everyone at the table.
Feedback
Send feedback opens an email to us in your mail app. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
Children and content
The planned age rating is 13+, subject to the App Store’s review. Beginner mode is on by default and keeps stories gentle; younger players should play with an adult. Turning it off makes other story tones available. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Messages you send us
If you write to us through the contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address and message and use them only to reply and to improve the app. The website privacy policy explains how long we keep these messages. Please leave passwords, access keys and other people’s private records out of your message.
Your requests
Information the app keeps on your own device or computer can be viewed, exported and deleted there. Information held by a service you connect is controlled by them, as described above. To ask about information you have sent us, or to have it deleted, contact us as above. We respond within 30 days. California residents have these rights under California law, and we extend them to everyone.
Changes to this policy
If a future version changes what the app stores or sends, we will update this page before that version is released and change the date above.
